Video/display problems...

I posted a couple questions about problems I have been having since reinstalling
XP. I still have the problems but I have more information now and, hopefully, someone
will be able to help me. After reinstalling XP, I could not play DVDs with WMP10.
(I always could before the reinstall.) Also, when I drag windows and use scroll
bars, the results were choppy. In addition, I got messages about not having a 3D
graphics accelerator, etc. Everything seemed to point to me not having a DVD decoder.
I re-loaded all my drivers. No luck. I finally bought a new NVIDIA DVD decoder.
Still no luck. Finally, I talked to a NVIDIA tech and he had me check my Device
Manager for my display adapter. It shows that my NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX400 display
adapter is disabled with a Code 22. I tried to re-enable it but it always goes
back to disabled. The NVIDIA tech told me that either means that my graphics
board is bad, there is some kind of device conflict, or I don't have the device driver.
So I went to the NVIDIA site and downloaded their driver again with no luck. I
then tried reinstalling the driver that came with my Gateway PC. Still no luck.
It's hard to imagine that my graphics board went bad precisely when I reinstalled
windows so that leaves some kind of conflict. The NVIDIA tech had me check for
some things in Device Driver and he said that no conflicts were happening. Does
anyone have any suggestions? I had beautiful video before the re-installation and
I could play DVDs with no problem. Also, I had no scrolling or window dragging problems
before the reinstall. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
