I have a branded machine of hpcompaq i ave installe xp prof with service pack1 ,
and activated the product by calling microsoft through phone, there was no problem
for 1month but after that the machine is prompting for activation for another time
, i have not upgraded the machine nor installed any third party software, then why
is it prompting me for activation very often

If you called Microsoft to do the activation, I think you should call them again.
Were you conneccted to the internet when you did so? They are probably a good first
spot to go to -- I'd imagine they'd have some way to see if you really WERE activated
or not. Just a suggestion.
