I have used Acronis True Image to clone XP Pro from my Western Digital hd 58gb onto another WD hd 38gb as a backup. Recently, for some reason that I don't clearly understand, my 38gb hd won't recognize the slave hd (for storage) although the 58gb hd does. Although I have enable logical disk management on the 38gb, XP still doesn't see the slave hd even though I can browse the slave hd via Partition Magic. How do I get the XP 38gb clone to "see" the slave hd? Thank you.

Sounds like incorrect hard drive "jumper" settings.

If you have the cloned 38Gb HD set as master on same IDE cable as slave and slaves
jumpers are correctly set on BOTH drives, then the master drive should certain see
the slave drive.

You might try checking those jumpers again....Good luck.
