Question about 'How do I uninstall Windows?'

How do I uninstall Windows 98 after it has been upgraded to Windows XP? I know. I
know I can revert to Windows 98 so it must still be there somehere. I have a partitioned
hard drive that the OS is installed on with 5 gigs on it and I have less than a gig
left on it. Is there anyway to remove Windows 98 from that partitiion so that I will
have more space for my XP files ?

Sorry...but you are learning the hard way that "upgrades" often mean lots of trouble....Best
thing to do is get retail....FULL version of WinXP.....and install from that CD selecting
to delete existing partitions after which you need to create NEW C:\ partition, let
XP format it and continue with fresh install.
You will be way ahead and have lots less issues...By the way....a 5 gig partition
is about half the size you should be using for your OS install, that is unless you
plan to never install but a very few programs.
Best of luck!

XP INFO XP CLEANUP
How big is the total drive size? Do you have the '98 CD and an XP upgrade CD? If
so you can clean install XP using the '98 CD as qualifying media.
"You will need to have a qualifying Win98/Me/2000 CD to insert if you are using an
upgrade version of XP to clean install. OEM restore disks will usually not fulfill
the qualifying requirement. If the restore disk has a i386 folder, it will usually
work."
Click the Link above for the full version on how to clean install XP.

Thanks for your replies, I found a way. The 5 gig partition was only used for my
OS the rest of the drive for programs/apps and music. I found and deleted the original
98 OS files on my C drive using "clean up" and found and deleted the backed up 98
files (through XP) in the add/remove programs applet and got rid of that too.
I managed to get 2.5 gigs of OS partition space back.
Course I won't be able to revert back to 98 but who cares, all is working fine now.
Thanks again.
