is there something wrong with my external hard drive it is suppose to be 120gb but
when i look at the properties it says it is only 111gb. it is a fat32 format and
im using it on a xp sp2 home edition. if i convert it to ntfs will that make it
what it is suppose to be?

120*1000*1000*1000 = 120,000,000,000 bytes, Drive Manufacturer

Falcon gives you the math but for clarification, drive makers use decimal math to
calculate drive size computers use binary math to do it
You are getting the full drive size, here is some further reading on the topic http://www.pcguide.com/intro/fun/bindec-c.html

Unless you know how to deal with NTFS security don’t even think about converting
it to NTFS

It is what it's supposed to be. You will gain nothing by convering it to NTFS....
except maybe a few more headaches.
