XP INFO  XP CLEANUP

Click The XP Cleanup link above and download ERUNT and install ERUNT together with NTREGOPT How much space that will take depends on how many days back registries you want to keep. Read the instructions carefully on use.

you can backup your registery as follows Start Run Type RegEdit hit enter registery editor will open now goto file export Choose the name and the destination as you wish , and on the bottom left make sure you encirle "All" and finaly Save. you shall get a big size for example 50-60 mb , according to your windows it will vary but you reduce it to a very small file , lets say 3 MB by Compressing it with Winzip , Winrar ..etc. to import a backup file do the same steps till you reach "file" and instead of "export" choose "import" browse to the folder containg the backup you made , choose the file and import it. regards

I am told that that method doesn't copy all of the hives.

This method fails to back up all the hives or to preserve the security permissions on the keys.

Thanks

Fatmania, Mac and Falcon. I took Mac's advice and downloaded NTREGOPT and ERUNT.
Though, I still haven't
backed up my registry (thought of reformatting my pc but changed my mind at the last
minute). But still, thanks everyone. It was greatly appreciated. ; )

Mac,

Thanks. I've downloaded NTREGOPT and ERUNT. Haven't backed up my registry though
(thought of reformatting my pc but changed my mine at the last minute). I've got
another question to ask though, how do I fix another hard drive to my pc and how
do I fix a pci card into a pci slot (wat does a pci slot look like?)? I opened up
my pc and found where to stick my new hard drive in and a pci slot, I think, but
there was a whole lot of cables in there that I don't understand! Could u help me?
Please......... (could u give detailed instructions?) And, what is an agp slot? Do
most computers have it? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

                                                                     The Rookie

If you install ERUNT it should install NTREGOPT at the same time. Ths is a good site for all of your questions... Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) Ask questions like "How Processors Work" and you'll find this How Stuff Works site. You'll need to do quite a bit of study.

Mac,

Thanks, the link you gave me on AGP had a picture of PCI slots which gave me an idea
on where to slot my card in (haven't placed my new hd though, it seems that I'm running
short of cables). So, now I'm wondering, what does the number of channels sent by
my wireless router mean? Should I set more channels or less? Which setting makes
the signal stronger? Thanks Mac, your a real great guy.

I don't use a router, but if you look at the bestsellers on this link you may find the answer... ROUTERS

In order to send data wirelessly, you must have a section of the radio spectrum on which to transmit. WiFi uses a small chunk, and this chunk is divided into 11 channels to allow you to have (in theory) up to 11 different wireless networks. Unfortunately, only 3 are really usable--1, 6, and 11. You simply pick whichever one is the farthest from existing networks, or if there are no other networks, whichever you want.

Falcon,

Thanks, your a great guy too (or are you a girl?). So, there are no other existing
networks but somehow changing my channel from 6 to 1 seem to have improved the signal.
^.^? And then it went bad again when I used WPA-PSK. Another thing is, the signal
starts off good when I plug in my wireless card and then slowly goes bad. ^.^? Or
could it just be the objects around me?

                                                                    The Rookie.

Mac, Falcon,

Could you help me keep up-to-date?

The best:

*free firewall is ZoneAlarm?

Which one is better?

*Ad-Aware or Spybot?
*SpywareBlaster or SpywareGuard? (or should I have both?)
*AVG Free Home Edition or commercial anti-virus programs?
*Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwazeneger? ;)
*Darth Vader or Obiwan? ;)

What apps do you guys use?

One more thing, while I was searching the net for Spyware Blaster, I found www.spywareblaster.com
and I think it's a phishing (is that spelled correctly?) website. What do you think?
;)

                                                                    The Rookie.

Just FYI, you've had your original question answered. Continuing to add additional questions, totally unrelated to the topic, isn't the way forums work.

So,

Does that mean you'll answer my question if I post my question outside of this thread?
