External or internal floppy drive? Has it been detectable previously? If internal is it recognised in BIOS? If external and USB is the USB port working for other devices?

At boot-up you have an option to go into your BIOS. Usually DEL key and F-key. You
may find your BIOS has floppy drive support switched off- a fairly common problem.

Good luck, Howard Hoyt

Get yourself a boot disk (I generally use a 98 boot disk, but any boot disk will do) and try booting off of it
If it fails to boot make sure that the floppy is set to be the first boot device
If it still fails to boot you've got a dead floppy, they are very cheep and the replacement isn't that hard
