Hi,
I recently bought a new laptop that came with windows XP! Nothing wrong so far! Now
i try to install windows xp on my old laptop from the CD that came with my new laptop.
But when i start the computer I get the following message!
Boot CD-ROM Type: No Emulation Booting
Toshiba DVD-CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD - Code: 1
I have tried everything, but nothing seem to work
Is there anybody who know what I can do?

Computer manufacurers send out OEM forms of software that will only work on the system
that it comes with. As for laptops I have encountered some that were fixed to the
OS that it came with. I could not upgrade from 98 to ME. Sorry for the bad news.

I got a new Windows XP disk, but still have the same problems. I did read in anoher
post on this forum, about this subject that there is a way to avoid this problem
and that is to use a boot floppy and to install Windows manually. But it was not
described how to do so. Is there anybody who can give me some advice on this?
Thanks in advance

I to had a similar problem and to work around this you can go to microsoft.coom
and download the 6 pack of boot disks boot 1 and continue till all 6 are in just
make sure you set your pc to boot of a floppy first hopefully this helps

well i got the same problem before and i got it now just dont rememeber now how exactly
i fixed before but it goes something like this, you have to make a windows 98se boot
disk first or other type of boot disk, boot your laptop with that first then introduce
your xp cd into the cd rom and change the drive to that of your cd rom and then change
the directory of that of i386 then type winnnt.exe see where that takes you, hope
it helps you if not all some
