Unwanted Icons on Desktop at Boot

When I boot up my computer, I get six large advertising icons. They are: Gambling, Dating, Pharmacy, XXX, Spyware, and Insurance. They just appeared today, along with an Unspypc application. I was able to get rid of the Unspypc application, but have not been able to get rid of the icons. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on how to get rid of them?

I too have the 6 icons on my desktop. I have run Norton in Safe Mode as well as Adaware and Spybot. However, I have had to do this through my daughters log-on access on XP as mine will not load. Even through hers, I have to first disconnect the internet (cable) access to get hers to load. I am willing to try your suggestions, however, I need to get the PC loaded first. Any additional suggestions.......this is driving me crazy?
