Mail merge with outlook

I can not get mail merge to recognize my contacts in outlook to print envelopes or
labels. I have windows XP and use outlook as my contact data base. Can anyone walk
me through the correct steps? I go into Word mail merge and select Choose contacts
from Outllook contacts, then it comes up blank.
