Question about 'Turn Off the PC-Speaker'

I have a question about Turn Off the PC-Speaker:

i don't really have issue with the error beep, i hardly notice it. but my pc speaker in general has started acting up lately. all sound, music, movies, etc are playing through the pc speaker. even with my regular speakers plugged in. and when i turn them off or even plug in my headphones, the pc speaker is still going. i've checked all the wires and cables and tried all the options suggested for stopping the "beep" but they don't seem to work my problem. any ideas? thanks, amber

I have the same difficulty. I use headphones to listen to music while working, the PC speaker is also playing the music. There are NUMEROUS devices/codecs loaded, and I suspect the problem lies in some inconsistancy with them, but can't offer a real solution. However. since it seems to come and go, perhaps the old standard windows answer.. "REBOOT", may offer some relief.
