It means that your software "key" is already in use by someone else. It is "pirated"
or "stolen". You got ripped off. Call Microsoft and report to there antipiracy group.

It says it's activated.Does it show the counter how many days left?

Anchor man is right, you got hosed.
IF, and this is a big if, the copy of XP you is actually a legitimate XP CDROM, or
is a very good fake of a legitimate XP CDROM, MS has a program for you that, if you
qualify, will give you a free replacement for the bogus or already activated copy
you bought.
