Imation are among the worst. Some of the best are Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Ritek. If not, it's possible that there is a hardware problem with the DVD laser or its controlling circuitry. Combination DVD and CD drives have two lasers, one for DVD and one for CD. It's possible that one could be bad yet the other one is still working. I use Nero 6 Ultra and have even recently downloaded all the most recent updates trying to resolve this issue. My dvd player will some dvds already burned just fine, and others it will just cycle like it's trying to ready. Also it used to burn dvds just fine, but now when I put in a blank dvd it just cycles for about 10 minutes and then reads as there is no media in the drive. I've downloaded updated ASPI files, and still no change. I'm at a loss as to what is going on. Oh. I use Memorex brand DVD-Rs.
