Hello.....I have read that the alg.exe, spoolsv .exe and vsmon.exe processes, are right if they are in this rute: windows\system32\, and they are all on this location, but I read that if they appear in other locations could be a virus, and yes, they show in other folders alg.exe shows in: c:\windows\system32 c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$ c:\windows\prefetch c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 spoolsv.exe shows in: c:\windows\system32 c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$ c:\windows\$NtUninstallkB896423$ c:\windows\prefetch c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 c:\windows\$hf_mig$\KB896423\SP2QFE and vsmon.exe appears in: c:\windows\system32 (como vsmonapi.dll) c:\windows\prefetch (como vsmon.exe-1609C098.pf) c:\windows\prefetch\zonelabs c:\archivos de programa\zonelabs\zonealarm\repair is this normal or should I delete it from all files that aren´t system32? Thanks in advance

Tip: Run a free scan for common Windows errors ad

Those listed files should be OK.

To have those three files in the locations that you have listed is not unexpected.
If your anti-virus or malware scans have not detected an infection in any of the locations you have listed (probably in the windows\prefetch folder, if any), you need not delete those files in those listed locations.

Those files and their locations are valid. The only note I'd make is for the alg.exe
file. That's the Application Layer Gateway service and is not needed if you don't
use internet connection sharing or the Windows firewall. DON'T delete it, just DISABLE
it, and you can save several megs of RAM by not having it startup at boot.

Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services. Near the top of the list find
that service and double click on it, then in the drop down list in the Startup type
box select Disabled, then click Apply. You can also click the Stop button to terminate
the service immediately, or wait till the next boot for the change to take effect.

alg.exe should be in "Manual" setting

Both the "Services" "Guide(s)" from Tweakhound.com & antiSPYWARE Expert "Black Viper" recommend that the Application Layer Gateway Service ( alg.exe ) should have a setting of "Manual", not "Disable" .
