how does one remove (delete) something in a .cab file?

As far as I know, only by extracting and repacking files in the original cab. I have winrar and 7zip, but they aren't capable of modifying or creating cabs. Probably due to the proprietary format. There is a command line utility provided by M$ to create cab files.
