Windows boot not finishing ...

I have one huge problem. When I boot my computer, WinXP doesn't finish loading. It stops few seconds after Start button appears. There are few icons missing on desktop and it doesn't move until I push reset button. If I log on as different user, then swith to me it works normally. Also there is nothing in my search window. When I press Start/Search/For files and folders there is empty space above assistant and no windows to enter text

As to the empty or incomplete search box:
-- open Windows Explorer and find the srchasst.inf file in the Windows\Inf folder;
-- right-click on that file and click Install on the context menu;
-- have your WXP CD nearby;
-- reboot when the process is done.

Note:  the Windows\Inf folder is a hidden folder. You need to make sure that on the View tab of Windows Explorer Folder Options, "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.

Is the search window OK for other users?

Do you have a full install CD for WXP? Or do you have some sort of recovery disk from the computer manufacturer?

Can you boot into safe mode OK?

The search is currently not a problem because I can't boot my computer anymore. I can do it as a different user but not me. If I boot as different user and then switch to me it works normaly. I do have Win XP instalation DVD and I even performed Windows repair function of setup. It went through but the problem stayed the same. And there is misterious and suspicious file called msv0.dll that keeps on poping up on desktop. It really smells like trojan or something but 3 antivirus softwares can't find anything. Is there a way to find out what stops the boot? Event viewer reports nothing suspicious. Thank you

". . . [a] file called msv0.dll that keeps on poping up on desktop."

Like what is shown at click here ?

Can you boot into safe mode?
If yes, do so, and if not, then boot-up using some other user identity.  Then search in Windows Explorer for that file, msv0.dll.  Once you find it, right-click on it, then click on Properties, and get all information about the file.

It looks exactly like that. It is located in c:\documents and settings\Dejan. When I click properties it states nothing unusual (opens with Microsoft Register)

". . . . it states nothing unusual"

That doesn't tell me anything (such as the source of the file, its purpose, size, etc.), so all I can suggest is to reboot back into safe mode and rename the file as:   old_msv0.dll
Then reboot into normal mode and see if the file reappears on desktop, and if there is any noticeable malfunction elsewhere.
If not, you then could delete the file into the recycle bin, but leave it there for a while "just in case."
