     Hello everybody,

   It's my first message on this forum , and the reason I am here is because I am
looking for a solution on how to correct a Windows XP error that shows up frequently.

   The error sais : The Path 'ID20060228033347703' does not exist or is not a directory.

              And it shows up usually after I turn on my computer and open "My computer"
or after the system was on "stand by" or "hybernating" and I open a folder (any folder).
The error usually shows up once in a error box, doesn't have any details and after
I press "OK" it doesn't come up untill the system is restarted or after the folder
browser hasn't been used for a long time.

     ScanDisk doesn't correct the problem.

     I would appreciate any help or suggestions on how to solve this issue without
reinstalling the OS, which, apart from this minor annoying problem is working pretty
fine.

     Thank you.

Dear All,

did you try virus/malware/spyware scanning ?

Best regards, Rami Wahdan.

Yes, I have, and I don't think it's a virus.

I think I've deleted a folder while is was still in use by DC++ or that was being
used by another program and since than it created an error in the FAT or something,
and it shows this message ever since. But I'm not 100% sure.

I'm not sure how to go about finding the culprit, but scan disk won't sort out anything
like this. There may be something listed in one of the startup locations, which points
to a bad path. Something like a broken shortcut.

Perhaps Merjin's StartupList application would be of help. Just unzip and run it.
Look under the Registry Run keys section and see if you spot anything. If you don't
quite understand, let us know. We don't always know how experienced users are, when
we give advice/suggestions.

I'd also clear out Windows\temp folder.

I would search the registry for ID20060228033347703 and delete any entries that contain
it. Make a registry backup first.

I've cleaned the "Temp" folder in Windows and this is how the registry run keys look
like :

Registry 'Run' keys:

[User Run]
H/PC Connection Agent = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\WCESCOMM.EXE"
Yahoo! Pager = C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\ypager.exe -quiet

[System Run]
AGRSMMSG = AGRSMMSG.exe
BigDogPath = C:\WINDOWS\VM_STI.EXE USB PC Camera 301P
EPM-DM = C:\Acer\ePM\EPM-DM.exe
ePowerManagement = C:\Acer\ePM\ePM.exe boot
HotKeysCmds = C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe
IgfxTray = C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray.exe
IMJPMIG8.1 = "C:\WINDOWS\IME\imjp8_1\IMJPMIG.EXE" /Spoil /RemAdvDef /Migration32
iTunesHelper = "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe"
LManager = C:\PROGRA~1\LAUNCH~1\LManager.exe
MCAgentExe = c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe
MCUpdateExe = C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcupdate.exe
NeroFilterCheck = C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe
PHIME2002A = C:\WINDOWS\system32\IME\TINTLGNT\TINTSETP.EXE /IMEName
PHIME2002ASync = C:\WINDOWS\system32\IME\TINTLGNT\TINTSETP.EXE /SYNC
QuickTime Task = "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
RemoteControl = "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe"
SoundMan = SOUNDMAN.EXE
VirusScan Online = "c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcvsshld.exe"
VSOCheckTask = "c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcmnhdlr.exe" /checktask

[System RunOnceEx]
@ =

Everything seems to be ok. Other than that, in the registry I cannot find the ID
20060228033347703 or anything that would link to it. I simply don't know what this
ID points to. I have the same feeling, that it's an invalid shortcut or folder that
was deleted and is still in use by an application.

     I don't know where to look 4 the problem in the first place.

     Thanks for the advice anyhow, and if u have any other suggestions or ideas...
feel free !

I was under the impression you had an idea what you deleted before this error came
up. I thought your startups may give you a clue, since it pops up on startup also.
You mentioned deleting a folder while a program was in use. Windows won't let you
delete anything that's in use, normally.

Especially since you use a P2P program, it's possible you picked up something you
don't want. I'd run an online virus scan, at least.
