A Network Cable is Unplugged - I don't have networked computers!

I am running Windows XP and have an AOL internet broadband connection. Whilst connected
to the internet, every so often (usually about every quarter hour), I get a pop-up
stating "A network cable is unplugged". However, my computer is not networked with
any other computer, indeed, this is the only computer that I have! Whilst I get this
message, the internet seems "dead", and once the message disappears, everything works
again.
Could someone please tell me how I could rectify this.
Many thanks

The broadband connection is considered to be a network connection. Your RJ45 plug
of the network cable is either not properly connecting (maybe not fully clicked in,
or the contacts are not clean), or the cable itself is not okay. Try another cable.

Check your power management settings.

As I primarily understand your information, you are linked to the internet via a
cable or DSL modem which is connected to your computer by an ethernet cable. Two
things to carefully check: A. Check all cable connections associated with the Modem
and computer ethernet connection. B. When you get that balloon note, quickly go to
the Device Manager to see if problems are indicated with the ethernet device.
