Desktop icons have blue box around labels--icons have lost transparency

Good evening fellow experts, sure could use some of that expert help.
Seems that my computer may have had a virus, so after attemting to remove it with
some software, my desktop icons have lost their transparency. Now they have a blue
box around their labels, and it looks god awful, something worse thant windows 98.
What have i tried? The solutions that'works' for some people including:
1. system>adv>performance>settings>use drop shadows for desktop icons selected.
Tried this. Did not work
I have no idea how to fix it. Ironically if you create another user account, the
icons look perfect--but who wants to move a thousand different files, and reinstall
everything etc etc. weird. I know.
Am i missing a system file, i think not. I will do anything. Please email me..mmarek@bellsouth
dot net
thanks so much, all the best
Martin

You didn't mention if you tried this, so...
right click on Desktop and get properties, go to Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop,
go to Web tab and make sure everything is unchecked. By default, you should only
have "My Current Home Page" in there.

It had like 2 other entries there, which were like viruses or spyware, so i hit delete
and sweet, got it back. I wish more people knew that this IS the solution!
