I have a question about Dealing
with Bad Memory (RAM):
my computer is shutting its self down at random moments with no warning. the power
cell is fine, and it's not overheating. my best guess is a problem with the memory
chip. could it possibly be something different? is there a way to check and be
sure it's the memory before i replace it? i would really appreciate any feedback.
thanks

Bad mamory will usually cause a BSOD or data corruption and associating error messages
(check your Event Viewer). IME, it will never just power down a machine without
warning (unless it would directly short out and cause a power problem). Powering
down without warning it usually due to powersupply problems (or unstable incoming
power), heat or a hardware device failure/instability (which could be difficult to
track down without the proper tools).
