Question about 'Downloading Windows Updates'

I have a question about Downloading
Windows Updates:
My automatic updates haven't worked in a very long time. When I right click on the
yellow shield on the task bar, it states I have 9 updates needed to install. However,
whenever I try to install these updates, they fail. I don't know why this is but
some help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

On the bottom of linked page are directions to reset, or repair Auto update. If it
was Me, I would just turn it off. MS only releases them once a month anyway.

Visited a friend's house the other day who had the same problem; I went to the Microsoft/Windows
Update site & eventually it reported that "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool
( KB 892130 ) " was needed. I proceeded to download, install, etc & after it rebooted,
the "other" Updates were available.
I did turn OFF the Automatic Updates & "hid" KB 905474 so it would not accidently
be downloaded.

You could try getting your updates through www.windizupdate.com.
The updates themselves come straight from M$, but instead of using M$s many megabytes
of buggy update code scattered over countless files, widizupdate delivers all your
updates through a deadly efficient browser plugin of only 350 kb. Works with Firefox,
Netscape, Opera, K-Meleon...
