Seeing More at Boot Time on a Dell

On my Dell system there seems to be NO way that I can even get a chance to see the activity at BOOT time because it it covered by a Dell logo. In days of old, there was a parameter LOGO=0 which could be placed in CONFIG.SYS, but it no longer seems operative with Win/XP. Would appreciate any advice as to how I might get closer to where the rubber meets the road and watch more of the boot activity. Thanks,,

You need to go into BIOS setup and change the setting for some options. Names vary
but if you look through what's available you should find them.

Hi, Don't remember which website I found this on but it works. Go to my computer...properties...advanced tab...startup and recovery section...settings...system startup...click on edit to open the boot ini file in notepad. Add a space and then /sos at the end...save changes. This will show you what's going behind the screens. I assume it works on a Dell...it's a Windows thing. Bob H.

You made me curious Bob so I did a search and found this MS article.

Lots of boot.ini switches you can add. Thanks for the info.

That won't help with the info the Hugh wants to see which is what BIOS shows before
XP boots. That requires a change to BIOS setup.

Press ESC to dismiss the Dell Logo.

To have the BIOS display all the available detail at bootup, look for a BIOS setting
along the lines of "fast boot," "quick boot," etc and deselect it. You might find
a BIOS setting for something similar to "display logo," if you see that deselect
it, too.
