Spyware & WIN XP

I tried Windows Defender, but with 512 Megs. of RAM, it slowed things down quite a bit. The 'real time' protection has a large footprint, and seems bloated. Any recommendations for a better, real time ant-spyware, like Spy Sweeper or Spy Doctor? I currently use AdAware and Spybot S&D, AVI, but a real time anti-spyware would be a better addition. Do all of these slow things down so much. I am using DSL, not the fastest connection, but without Defender, things run quite faster and better..??

Allow me to recommend F-Prot AV by Frisk International. Small footprint, and their
customer support actually answers emails!

According to the test reports in several computer mags, Spyware Doctor and Spy Sweeper
have pretty much been the two best programs for about 1-1/2 years now, well ahead
of other programs by a wide margin.

Defender recently got a major overhaul with a new engine, is this the one you were
using, or maybe the older version?

Have seen "reports" on several forums of trouble Spyware Doctor & SpySweeper have caused on people's computers. Within the last 6 months, "SUPERantispyware" from a creditable source has come on the "scene". For real-time protection, there is a "Pro" version with a 30 day FREE trial available at www.superantispyware.com .

Do you use Firefox as your main browser? If so, real time protection isn't nearly
as vital as if you were using IE.

Spybot S&D offers real time protection with Tea Timer, or SpywareGuard uses very
little memory and that's it's sole purpose. As was mentioned you could add SpywareBlaster,
but it doesn't actually provide real time monitoring in that sense.
