I can't belive they left that large a loophole.

The article is absolutely correct. Need a new validated copy? Still using the old
PC you installed Windows on in the first place? Well then Functionality is just a
phone call away. Windows Tech Support really will just validate your Windows a second
time if you call in and explain that you've completely upgraded your PC. I mean,
yes, it's a given that I have in fact compeltely upgraded my computer (new motherboard,
memory, hard drive, etc) but I put the old components in another box and it's running
too (gives the kids something to destroy...) I am impressed. The words above are
extremely helpful and do, in a way, let you "stick it to the man".

It's not a loophole. If your copy of XP was installed by an OEM, then that license
is tied to that machine and can't be transfered to another. If your copy of XP is
a retail copy though, you can do as many upgrades or transfers to another machine
as you like and MS will activate it every time you call, though they will probably
ask you if this is the only machine it's installed on. Whether you wish to lie about
it is up to you.

LOL...Linux will become the mainstream desktop OS around the same time soccer surpasses
the NFL, NBA, and NASCAR as major leage sports in the U.S.
