I just can't figure out why I have lost the right click feature in the start menu. there is a slight blink of what I think is the window wanting to open...................help please

It sounds like something I came across a while ago... spam may have loaded an app that is preventing right click... try running various spy scanners and look at your running processes... kill them one by one trying to right click it after each one stops to find out which process is holding it up ( just stay away from the svchost.. killing those may restart your system)

Also remembered I had similar problems a while back that was caused by a program I installed that messed with the context (right click) menu stuff. I used ShellExView to figure out which one then uninstalled it. See here for some good help in fionding this kind of problem:
