I have installed the latest free AVG but when trying to run it I get the error " Could not initialize AVG anti-virus kernal interface, application cannot run" can anyone help me here as I don't understand what is wrong. Thanks.

Run into this with the new versions as well. Was there an older version? It seems to not like any other versions and fresh install only, no upgrade. Hope this helps.

I have tried all that has been advised and I am stuck. My PC will not let me delete AVG or uninstall it and at the same time it will not let me run it either. What can I do to remove the darn thing?

Ian, you followed the directions at the link I posted, including booting to Safe Mode to do what it says?

What happened when you selected the Uninstall option? Did you get any error messages? Anything loggeed in Event Viewer?

Ian, you were referred to an appropriate forum for AVG help, Castle Cops. This forum 
is mainly for help with Windows related issues.

I suggest you skim through their forum first, before posting. There may be another 
example of your problem with a solution.
