Since SP2 there have been dozens of patches for XP. I doubt that it will be different for Vista. The "Windows" Operating Systems are designed to do almost everything for everyone, from casual email checkers and internet surfers to serious multi-machine in-house networked workstations in corporations that maintain connections to multiple networks of other neworks. (With support for almost every language in the world) It is unlikely that such a complex and flexible platform would be bug-free straight off the shipping dock despite beta testing. My XP works well on my present computer. Down the road a few years when it is time for me to get a new machine I will get a computer designed for Vista, which by then will have benefited from full "sea trials." I see no reason for me to rush to a new operating system when XP is doing what I want done right now. Hey, If all I wanted was new, I could have Linux tomorrow for free. I tried it on a spare computer and the only advantage I could find (which was only a visual advantage and that is that you can get your windows in 3D) It is no better than windows XP, if anything it is worse. Badly designed and more confusing than it needs to be. My advice would be to stick to Windows XP.
