accessing read-only folder from old windows account

This is a long story, but I had a problem where windows wouldn't load, and the repair installation wasn't working, so I di a new install over top of my existing install. I kept the existing file structure rather that reformatting because I had a bunch of files I wanted to save if possible. I was not aware that the user information would change ald all of the existing user accounts would become useless. Since then, I have fixed all of my programs and copied everything I can from the old user accounts. The problem is my 'My Pictures" folder from my old account was appearantly set so only I could access it, and now I can not access it from the new account to copy my pictures. I also can not delete my old account because this folder is not accessable. Is there any way I can access these files, or log in under that user name so I don't lose all of my pictures of my kids? The user data is still there for all of the old accounts, so how do I log in under them? I'm getting desperate here! Please help!
