Hi all new to this site can anyone help me?? i have windows xp pro for which i have no key, so i have bought a copy of xp home and installed it onto my hard drive in a different partition so when i switch my machine on it now gives me the choice to load the new home edition or the old xp pro edition, so now i would like to remove the xp pro system from my hard drive i thought if i went into my computer selected the partition with xp pro on i would be able to delete the file called windows and that would be that, but it want allow it also there is a folder with all my old programs in called programs if i select a programe from this folder it will run fine on xp home, but if i try to move it from my "c" drive which is the partition with xp pro which i want to get rid of, onto my "d" drive which has the new xp home addition on they wont run??. sorry its so longwinded not the most tech person in the world, in short i have pro on a partition and i would like to erase it?? any help would be great have a good easter andy

You can edit the boot.ini file to remove the bad XP pro installation or you can do 
a fresh install of XP home by booting to the cd and deleting all existing partitions 
and then repartition for XP home and then install.

At this point the best thing to do would be to back up your data and do a clean install, 
that would format your  C:\ drive and get rid of all traces of the old install.

Hi thanks for your advice guys, if i move some of the programs from my old c drive across to the new d drive they wont run but they are quite happy to run off the c drive so i could leave them there and just delete the wxp pro operating system. is this possible?? thanks
