Wrong. Correct: Control Panel>System>Advanced>Performance Settings. Scroll down and
make sure "Use drop down shadows for icons on the desktop" is CHECKED.

You are a genious! Thank You! if I read another post telling me to check drop shadow
in syst. properties/advanced/performance settings/visual effects I was going to scream!
