Question about 'Customize Context Menus'

I have a question about Customize
Context Menus: When Explorer was call File Manager there used to be a very
useful 'Save As' option on the context menu for files and folders. You could use
it, for instance, to put a copy of a file in the same folder as the original - very
useful if you are then going to change the original. Since then I have had to copy,
save to another directory, change the name, cut, and save back to the original directory.
Is there a way to put this option back on the context menu? Or is there some way
to do the same thing already available, that I haven't understood?

Hi Poppy. One method I use to do something similar is by using the freeware rjhExtensions
this puts several options in your right-click menu (any you don't require can easily
be de-selected) One of the options is 'duplicate file here' which (as the name suggests)
duplicates the selected file in the same folder by modifying the name slightly. Hope
this helps.

Seemed a good idea !
Tried it - it doesn't do anything (no new items in my context menus).
Where am I going wrong ?

I'll try that Jo - though MartinM seems to have had problems...

Thanks Jo - that is much better than my previous method. It doesn't work for folders,
and it would be nice to be able to specify the new name - still half a cake is better
than none.

He he! - yes it's better than nothing, but it's a handy tool nonetheless. I'm not
sure why MartinM had problems.

If it helps, you can copy and paste a file directly back into the same folder and
windows will rename it "Copy of..." for you.

Good Lord, can you? Why didn't I know something so simple! durr! Works for folders
too... Now if I could only rename in one operation, I'd be there! Thanks, Bobcat.
