So many avi codecs, that it is sometimes hard for WMP to figure it out. Download
and install VLC Media Player. It has will play all most anything with out the problems
of making sure your codecs are right.

When installing VLC it will come to file association section. I like to uncheck all
the associations except the ones for Video. It is a great video player, but I don't
like to use it for anything else.

Are you playing them with the DivX player and they aren't working, or what are you
using to play them back with?? Sometimes they will work better with the actual DivX
player but you could have downloaded a bad file too. Many possibilities..

I never use WMP anymore, got tired of it not playing my files right. I use GOMPlayer
http://www.gomplayer.com/main.html, it has it's own internal codecs and I haven't
had any problems playing videos. Haven't tried VLC Media Player.
