Hello,I am currently looking for a new/used wireless pcmcia cardbus for
my Compaq Presario 2100US laptopFirst what is the difference between 802.11g
and 802.11b technology?Second would it be unsecure to purchase a used wireless
pcmcia card?Third what specs should i be specifically looking for if I
just intend to use this device for surfing the web, downloading files in excess of
10mbs-300mbs uninterrupted, internet radio listening, and some gaming thrown in.I'm
currently operating under xp home sp1/zone alarm/avg/s&d/adaware/spywareblaser/ewidothnank

Buy a new G model. Normal web surfing won't notice any difference, but if you download
any files the faster speed will be noticed. Though speed depends on what you are
connecting to. If connecting to a B router for example you get the B speed. Lots
of the information is already posted all over the internet.

Also make sure that whatever you buy can run the latest security encryption eg WPA-PSK
with preshared key, as a minimum. This is normal for new cards but some of the older
second hand cards may not support this...
