I forgot my windows xp password for the logon welcome screen. Heres the steps i
try and fail:
1. Disable from safemode. It ask me for the pass word before i get to the desktop
2. Revert to an earlier state that I can remember a password. I still do not remember
the password
3. Using linux software in an attempt to either remove the password or change it
to something else. It didn't work.
I am on a p4 1.3ghz with xp pro service pack 1.
I use another type of program and I got a hash code like this
Administrator:500:f5,25,DD,7A,9C,59,ED,27,52,DB,7F,97,5F,79,0F,7B,EF:
_F1,34,B9,92,E4,ED,4F,A3,F5,0E,A0,AD,3D,4B,BD,2D,XX:::

If all those steps fail, then do a Repair Install of XP.

something to remember, if you use the same user name when you do the repair, it'll
overwrite your 'my documents' folder. so if you want to get back to any data there,
you'll need to use a different name, and hope you didn't secure you're files.

Try OPHCRACK, free from http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/
The "live CD" will boot a PC, outside of XP, then try to read the encrypted passwords
and then decode them using something called rainbow tables.
Note that this software with finite rainbow tables will not decode all passwords,
but can get many of them. Short passwords have a better chance than long ones.
It runs in about 2 minutes on a 2.5 GHz Pentium 4 with 1 Gig or RAM.
Good luck.

Boot to Safe Mode and login as Administrator (no password unless you added one).
Then open User Accounts in Control Panel and change/remove the password.

ZeruelX,
I, too, have managed to get the hash codes to my user login, but don't know what
to do with them. If I sent you the codes, could you, PLEASE, convert them for me,
or direct me to a website that will help me to do it?
I will be eternally grateful
