XP will not boot

My computer was working perfectly yesterday. Today I cannot get it to boot in any mode including SAFE. It starts loading drivers (in SAFE) and stops at "WINDOWS SYSTEM32\Mup\sys." Is there any way to boot it with the XP CD or to re-install the OS without loosing data? This computer has Linux installed on another HDD, which boots up and functions properly, so the problem must be in XP, correct? Thanks, Cheers, Phill

A repair Install of XP will save Data, but may mess up the dual Boot with Linux
