Question about 'Change the Icons of Desktop Items'

Okay my question is about changing the recycle bin icon with regedit~ I changed (Default), Empty, and Full in both DefaultIcon locations (HKEY_CURRENT_USER, and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT) ~ the icon appears where and how it should... yet when i put something in it, the icon doesnt change to the full icon (unless i right click refresh on the desktop) then it appears full; when i empty it, it doesnt appear empty... unless i right click refresh the desk top... so im not sure why i have to refresh to get the icons to switch their views back and forth... does anyone else???? I've looked at several sites about this but no where does it address this issue~ here one of the sites i looked at... http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/291/
