i'm running XP Home sp2 I'm trying to setup the schedular to start a program at a specific time. I keep getting a error message that the Account does not have permission to carry out this task. The account has full admin rights though I have not set up a password on this account as i need the pc to byepass the logon screen

A password is required to use the scheduler. What I did to solve this was create a new account specifically for running scheduled tasks and assigned it a password.

  1. Next, obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI.
  2. Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
  3. Expand the Logon branch, and click Autologon.
  4. Turn on the Log on automatically at system startup option, type your username and password, and click OK

Also, xp can do autologon. If you go to start>>run and type in control userpasswords2 (notice the space between), it will bring up the accounts on the pc.

Create a password for the user account you want logged in automatically (and keep a record of it) highlight the user you want to autologin and uncheck the box that says users must enter a password....next boot up it will still bypass the screen but there is now a password on the account.

Hope this helps.
