I guess this file is VERY important, and I dont know how it got corrupted or missing, but it is. Now my comp wont even boot, but it asks for the original setup disk, which I dont have. I have several other Windows setup disk, but I dont think its the same as the one on the comp. If other versions will work, can someone talk me through how to repair it without losing my data?

There is the original system file from 1st install in C:\Windows\Repair.

I got it to boot now, BUT there is a new problem. The winlogin.exe errors and so does the schvost.exe (spelling?). How do I fix that?

Original Svchost.exe and Winlogon.exe are in C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache.Copy them to C:\WINDOWS\system32

You can do it in SafeMode.
