Blinding White Line on Black Monitor Screen

Please Help-DLink 530TX Ethernet Driver Re-Install
Hey there :)
Not so long ago, I received a new-to-me PC
computer as a gift :) (the Senior Centre here replaces all of their computers every
3 years and then sells their previous ones--my Mom was nice enough to surprise me
with one :) )
If I understand the manuals that came with it, the PC is a "Gigabyte Pentium 4 Titan
Series GA-8IPE1000".
It seemed to run Ok the first while, but I did start to notice that the monitor would
have blurry/wavy lines near the bottom of the screen at times (??)
It's got an AOC monitor.
It hasn't done the wavy/blurry thing in a while, but has now started making the entire
screen just go black, with a blinding white line across the middle of the screen!
(After about 10 to 30 seconds, the screen/webpage will pop back up, but this can't
be a good thing!)
Could it be that my monitor is slowly dying??
Or that it is incompatible with the PC??
Any help is appreciated :)
Thanks for your time,
AE :)

Please Help-DLink 530TX Ethernet Driver Re-Install
P.S. I'm not sure why "Please Help-DLink 530TX Ethernet Driver Re-Install" appears
on this post??
(It's an old topic that I posted about previously)
Is there a way for me to delete this?? :)

Sounds like your monitor has more or less died. See if you can borrow one (try the
Senior Centre!) and try it on your PC.

Yup, most likely a failed vertical drive in the monitor. Could just be a cable fault,
so worth swapping that out too.

You may have lost your vertical deflection coil or circuitry in your monitor. I would
say you have a deep 'tube' style monitor. It would be better to try and replace it,
as it probably would cost as much to fix it.!
If you could afford it, get rid of that 'room heater' and get a flat screen..

Thanks for all of the info everybody :)
My sister says that she has an extra monitor that she can give me (I just have to
wait until she can come back to town for another visit :) )
It's strange cuz it doesn't do it all the time, it will
go days with no troubles, and then Whamo! The Blinding Light strikes again ;)
I'm also concerned about this PC as it's had a few
"Serious Error Alert" popups happening, (with both
Explorer and Netscape usage), I'm gonna have to
write down the particulars the next time it happens.
Oh the joys of computers ;)
Thanks again :)
