First, check to see that the USB port is functioning, unplug your printer and try
some other device in the port..i.e. USB drive, etc...if you find that the port is
working, reconnect it, then try turning your printer off, then back on so that
it is 'recognized" ..post back the results....

Another way may be to remove the printer drivers and re-install em. Go to Control
Panel > Add Remove Programs and the printer suite or drivers are probably listed
there. Or use the device manager, look in the USB branch to uninstall relevant dtivers.
Is there a CD with the printer ? this will include the XP drivers. Pop this in the
drive, and follow the steps described. Keep the printer USB cable unplugged until
the installer prompts you to plug in the printer.
