What there is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Office\ 11.0\Access\............. OR: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Office\ 12.0\............(a few difff programs but not OUTLOOK) There's a seperate key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Office\Outlook\.......(But no "security key"). Any thought would be appreciated. Thanks

This is odd because a "normal" Outlook installation will always create the "Outlook" keys you are looking for. I'd approach it like this: 1. Backup your Registry. 2. have a thorough search for keys containing "outlook". 3. If no joy, backup your outlook.pst file and re-install Outlook. 4. If still no joy, create the key and value you need as per this I am doubtful about step 4. because it sounds as if there may be something deeper wrong with your installation, but as long as you have backed up the Registry you will be able to recover if necessary. I recommend ERUNT for system backups by the way.

Hi, Thanks for the very quick response. I'm not sure it's so odd because I do NOT have Outlook installed via the Office 2007 pack; I only installed Word/Excell/Access. I do have Outlook Express (the email). So that may be the reason that key is just not there at all. I did search for outlook in the registry. It's there in a few diff spots, but no \security key there. Thanks

Outlook and Outlook Express are completely different beasties as I'm sure you know, so you will not find the Outlook key under Office in your registry. Try looking within OE at Tools/Options Security tab. Remove the check from "do not allow attachments..."

I'm aware of this solution. It's the most dangerous to allow all attachments but if there's no other way to only allow MDB's, guess I'll have to do this. I must be able to receive MDB's from certain people. Thanks

An MDB attachment is only a risk if you open it... if you don't expect it, just delete it.

Ah - not having Outlook would explain why the Registry settings for Outlook are not there ! Follow Helen's advice.
