monitor problems

I have a dell inspiron 4150 laptop. The graphics on the monitor are weird colors. All windows that are open and should be white are pink. Whatever is supposed to be black is a bright green and it's all messed up. I've tried restarting, but that doesn't help. Any ideas?

Maybe your colors have slipped down to minimum. Link shows where on how to check
the settings.

Could be a loose or broken connection in the video lead.
Try this: switch off computer and monitor. Unplug video
lead from PC, and also from the monitor if there is a plug
rather than a hard-wired connection at that end. Replace
and remove the plug(s) two or three times to help clean
any corrosion -- unlikely but possible, then firmly replace
the plug(s) taking care to tighten the retaining screws. If
all is now well, you have solved the problem.

You might also try **very** gently flexing the cable
slightly at either end near the plug(s) while the PC and
monitor are operating. If the colours change and/or
return to normal, this is a sign of a bad physical
connection and you need to consult a technician to fix it.

A few possibilities come to mind.
1. color got adjusted wrong somehow, always check the simple stuff first.
2. video card driver corrupted. Try updating/reloading it and see if it helps.
3. either the video card, the monitor or the link between them is bad. On a laptop
the options here are very limited sadly, if that is the cause best to take it to
a shop for a look over/fix.
