Internet Explorer Closes After Downloads

I'm having a hell of a time with this little "annoyance." Everytime I download a
new file, be it video, mp3, exe or whatever, all of my internet explorer windows
close as soon as the download is finished! Also, after the download hits 99%, the
download window freezes up and takes forever for the file to show up... anyone else
having problems?

It' simple if you just read the directions in the download dialog box: uncheck the box that says "close this box when download completes". The short delay in the file appearing where is was directed to, the desktop for instance, is because the file has to be transferred from a temporary download folder to the specified location. When that completes, close the dialog box manually and all Explorer windows will stay open. Also in some cases the file has to be decompressed during this transfer. It shouldn't take more than a few seconds unless it's a large file and/or you have a slow processor.
