1. Don't attach the device to a standard speed port, attach it to a high speed port.
2. Ignore the message.

Install PCI USB 2.0 card. One pictured also has firewire ports.

Do you think installing a PCI USB 2.0 card will solve the posters problem? Most
likely, the poster is connecting the device to one of his front ports. The front
ports are usually connected to the motherboard. Installing a new PCI card will not
effect the front ports unless you can connect the front ports to the PCI card. I
don't know if that is even possible. I guess the poster could install the card an
run the proper cable from the back to the front.

It is telling you that it doesn't think you have a USB 2.0 on your system. If you feel that you really do, make sure that it is activated in your BIOS. Also there is a possibility that there is a jumper that needs to be set on the M/B. Otherwise the other guys answers are probably correct. You indeed need to install a USB 2.0 card.

I almost always plug the Thumb drives in the Back USB Ports. I have a bunch of PC's, and only one has USB 2 ports in Front.

By the Way you can get PCI USB 2.0 cards that have Pinouts for hooking up front Ports, but a Clueless User has almost no chance to figure out how to hook them up.

"a hi speed USB device attached to non hi speed hub"

It's just giving you "that information", click OK and the device should work OK as
long as it's backwards compatible....as most usb drives are.
I get the same message when I plug in my pny drive.

Like I said, I didn't know you could hook the front ports into a USB 2.0 PCI Card.
Is there a guide that shows how this can be done? I would be very interested in
learning how to do this. It would come in handy.

Also, I wasn't trying to discredit you Steve. I hope you don't think that. You
have always been very helpful to me and others in the past. I was merely trying
to put my two cents worth in. If I in any way offended you, I sincerely apologize.

The link is to a trusted online retailer with one example of a USB 2 card with one pinout connector for a Front case port. The card should come with directions, Also the Internet should have other resources on how to do it with a bit of searching. If you wanted to hook up two front USB ports, you need to locate a different card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815150097
