Normally, you would not find an uninstall for XP in the add/remove programs control panel..If you are attempting a clean install, I would be sure to have my "product key " available and try to find the newer version..in theory, you might be able to update the older version to what you had, but I would stick with plan "A"...for more information on what I think you are trying to do "Click Here "
