msconfig is a diagnostic tool and shouldn't be used as a long term solution.
There are several freeware programs which solve your problem;I use Startup CPL from
www.mlin.net
I also believe the good old standby CCleaner has this facility.

I prefer WinPatrol (plus Google to find out what all the startup items really are).
it has some neat options including delayed startup for things you want to have running
but not at the espense of a slow startup.

No, but it identifies the locations of what needs to be taken out, and allows one
to safely test whether or not they should/can remove those items. And why add special
software to do what can be done easily without the software.

msconfig is NOT strictly a diagnostic tool. I disable many MS services, but it would
be foolish to try and remove them.
