viruses or spyware keep returning...

I recently got invaded with viruses (?), spyware, malware. I cleaned them up with
various programs. But now they keep coming back and I am forced to clean them out
on a daily basis. Is there a program (preferably free) that PREVENTS these things
from coming on to my computer - as opposed to me having to clean them out afterward?

If they keep coming back on to your PC, then you haven't cleaned them off. Malware
continually downloads other malware.
You need to take it to a professional service, or seek advice on a specialized malware
site. Someone will speak up and recommend some, probably. (I don't use them, so
I can't tell you)

I think this spyware removal site is the one most often mentioned here.

Why is it that I run all these different types of cleaning programs, and each of
these programs bring up different types of spyware/malware. Why can't I get rid
of these things with just ONE program?

truth is, none of the programs will probably get rid of the malware on your PC.
Theres a much more effective method to removing malware than anti-virus software,
and I don't mean reformatting the hard drive.. However, its next to impossible to
do anything on a computer that is infected with malware.. Always, always, always
pull the hard drive and hook it to a clean PC to do your malware removal. Any other
way is a waste of time, IMO.
Anyways, malware removal software is only the first step. Nearly 100% of the time
that I do malware removal on a moderately infected PC, I find several, if not dozens
of extra files that are active malware on the PC even after scanning.

One of the Big Computer Security sites recently posted that the Known PC Virus's
in their Data Base had reached over 0ne million. I bet with hundreds of new ones
almost everyday being made by professional Virus makers for profit, so no one program
has a can deal with that. Clueless Windows Users don't stand a chance.:)

First of All,
Turn off System Restore, delete all tempoarary internet files etc. Some malware
hide in the system files as ROOT kits. Get the Sysinternals "root kit revealer"
and "root kit remover" from microsoft site (free) also try the M/S malicious software
removal tool they have , it's also free. it will identify the name of the virus/malware.
Most bad programs nowadays will disable Anti-Virus programs. try running your
A/V in safe mode it may take take a bit longer but might help.
Some of the Anti-Virus sites, symantec or McAffee have trojan /malware remove
tools free to download but you need to know which variant you have.
