PC Won't Boot After SP3 Install

I installed SP3, which seemed to install correctly (although it too awhile). Afterwards,
I restarted the PC and it gets to the Windows screen and then stops booting. I get
a black screen that says it was improperly shut down and I have a few options. 2-3
safe mode options, start normally or start with the last known good configuration.
I've tried the last two many times and it does the same thing...ends up back at the
same black screen again. I'm a novice (obviously) and don't know what to do. Can
I restart i safe mode and delete the SP3 somehow? Thanks in advance for any help.

You are on the right track - boot into Safe Mode and you can remove it using Control
Panel . . . Add/Remove programs.
Then I would hold off on this update for a few months - if you already had your PC
up-to-date it has little extra to offer, all you will miss out on will be the pain.

Choose to 'disable automatic restart on system failure' option from that black screen
of options. Then post the more specific error it gives you.. Should be whats called
a blue screen of death, with a specific STOP error number, and possibly list a filename
or other more specific information about the failure.

Thanks to you both! I'll give it a try.

One More Thing...

Since it would not boot in the 2 other modes, do you still think there is a good
chance it will boot up in Safe Mode?

No, you'll probably have to re-install.
