I have a comment about My Taskbar has disappeared - how do I get it back?:

One possibility is that Explorer has crashed. Press CTRL, ALT, DEL, and go to the Task Manager. Click the Processes tab to see if Explorer is running. If it is, click on each (if more than one) Explorer process and click End Process and OK. Then click the Applications tabe and click New Task. Enter "Explorer" and click OK. This shoud be tried after the other common solutions have been tried such as the task bar being hidden, etc. Thes other solutions are already on the site.

Dan - I am glad you got it back. I really struggled with it myself for a while. When I finally figured it out, I had to share it with others. As a side note - I really am surprised at my horrible spelling. I must have been in a hurry.

It sounds to me like your profile is messed up - that is probably the reason it happened in the first place. I am not an expert, but you may have to create a new windows profile (username and password) and copy all your data to it from an administrator account. A fresh windows install may be necessary - I would get some more expert advice on that. I have had stuff like that happen and everything was all right after I created a new profile and disabled the old. What you did by terminating the process like I said in the post, I am sure, had nothing to do with your problem - something was going wrong before that.
