SP3 address bar gone

I have searched here but did not locate any references to this particular issue. Just updated to SP3 but the address bar no longer shows up in the taskbar. Apparently this was done on purpose. Anyone have any fixes for this issue? I have googled this issue and have found several "fixes" but was wondering which one really works best? Thank you in advance.

Almost no one has switched to SP3. Most contributors here take a wait and see position
because every SP release has produced a wide variety of problems. As one who has
chosen to live on the bleeding edge, you get to help resolve these problems and become
the expert. Pick one and cross your fingers... let us know what happened.

ohhh no! It really wasn't ME. It was my 17-year old son! He is my computer "expert". We'll see what happens! and I will let everyone know. Thanks! (i think?)

I read Microsoft removed the Address bar in SP3 Because the Europeans are suing them about IE being integrated into Windows. Might find someone who figured out how to put it back in with Google. I would not be surprised if a Reg hack comes up if enough people miss the Option,

I have SP3, and my address bar is unaffected. You might be able to bring it back
by editing your registry (get your "expert" to do it) as follows:

Go to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbars\Restrictions]

Put in a new key:
Value name: NoNavBar
Value Type: DWORD
Data: 0x00000000

(Or if the key exists, but the Data value is 0x00000000, change it to 0x00000001.)

Do the same here:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbars\Restrictions]

Then reboot.

How to get the address bar back after SP3 takes it away

One of the optional toolbars that you can enable on Windows XP (and Vista) is the
address bar, which is handy for typing in a URL without first opening up the browser.
You can add it to your taskbar by right clicking and selecting Toolbars | Address.
Or at least, you could - prior to installing the latest service pack. However, if
you've installed SP3, you might notice that you no longer have that option when you
right click. Apparently the EU deems this to be a violation of their antitrust ruling.
Well, I'm not in the EU and I want that option back.
Luckily, there's a way to get it, but you'll need to replace the version of the browserui.dll
file installed by SP3 with one from SP2.

Copy it from an XP system that doesn't have SP3 and put it on the c: drive, then
do the following:

Restart the SP3 computer in Safe Mode (press F8 at bootup and select Safe Mode with
Command Prompt option.
At the command prompt, type this: xcopy c:browserui.dll c:WindowsSystem32
Reboot the computer.

Mark Kaelin shows this process with screenshots here:

Ah, sorry, I thought you were referring to the address bar in Internet Explorer itself, not in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen...my bad.
